A Landmark Lost

So I'm at work yesterday - and the scanner is going crazy like always - wait a second, maybe that was the assignment editor- either way, things were happening in the city - and I was in my corner like usual - not paying too much attention. Someone yelled out "who lives in the hood, Terri, you live in the hood don't you?" and I'm like, yep - what's going on? "Fire at Almon and Gottingen" - I'm like that's RIGHT by my apartment.. Holy Shit! NED! I didn't think much of it. I mean kitchen fires happen all the time at restaurants - no big deal - they assign me to my boring press conference with the health minister and pull the writer to go check out the fire. I'm just approaching the bridge - and there it is - a huge cloud of smoke - and it hits me - The North End Diner is burning down! I felt sad right away!I mean, it's literally a block away from my house.. I go there for my Breakfast special #1 for 3.99 --- it can't be! It's a north end landmark! For those of you out west - it's like Pete and Suzie's burning to the ground in downtown Cabri - or, I don't know the 24 hour Husky House in Calgary.. burning down - it's sad.. So, what now - I'm going to have to drag my ass to Superstore and buy some eggs on my own. Well I guess I can do that - but where am I going to get the semi-friendly, but I'm in a rush - service - like I did at NED?? I won't - it's irreplacable.
